Adeleke Suspends NURTW Operations in Osun Motor Parks

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has ordered the immediate suspension of all operations of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in motor parks throughout the state. This directive was issued on Thursday after a meeting of the Osun State Security Council, which Adeleke chaired.

The decision aims to restore order and enhance public security in the state. According to a statement from the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, the directive follows extensive discussions regarding the security situation in Osun.

Governor Adeleke instructed the Police and other security agencies to halt all NURTW activities in the parks, clarifying that this order does not entail closing the parks themselves. He also suspended the collection of levies in these parks and mandated the arrest of anyone posing as an official of the union.

To ensure compliance, a Rapid Response Squad comprising personnel from various security agencies has been established. The meeting included top security officials from multiple agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army.
