ALGON Supports Suspension of Motor Parks in Osun State

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Osun State chapter, endorsed the suspension of all motor parks in Osun State due to a leadership crisis within the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). This decision was made during a meeting involving NURTW, RTEAN, Motorcyclists and Tricyclists Union, and local government chairmen.

The leadership crisis has posed a security threat to public transportation users. A statement, co-signed by Hon.

Samuel Idowu Abiodun (ALGON Chairman), Olubisi Oladosu (General Secretary), and Hon Mufutau Adegbite (union spokesperson), indicated that the suspension was within their constitutional authority. A caretaker management committee was appointed to manage transport services, comprising Chief Kazeem Oyewale (State Chairman), Mutiu Ayinde (State Secretary), and Luqman Ahmed (State Treasurer) from NURTW, along with representatives from RTEAN and the Motorcyclists and Tricyclists Union.

The committee is tasked with ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining public safety, with security agencies requested to assist in the handover process.
