Osun Governor to Investigate Election-Related Killings

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke stated that an independent commission of inquiry will be formed following the August 15 governorship election to investigate reported extrajudicial killings and violence associated with the election period. This announcement was made during a press briefing in Osogbo, where Adeleke's speech was delivered by the state Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi.

The governor expressed condolences to the families of victims of violence during the election, emphasizing that every life lost is significant. He assured that the commission would be established immediately after the election to investigate the circumstances surrounding these incidents and recommend actions to ensure accountability, regardless of political affiliation or influence.

Additionally, Adeleke committed to providing support and compensation to the families of the deceased, stating that the memories of the victims would be honored and that the government aims for a peaceful future for Osun State.
