Adeleke's Team Calls for International Monitors at Osun Guber Poll

Governor Ademola Adeleke's campaign group has petitioned international observers and Nigeria's IGP ahead of the August 15 Osun governorship election.
Governor Ademola Adeleke's campaign organization, the Imole Campaign Council, has formally appealed to international observer missions and the country's security establishment for intervention in the upcoming Osun State governorship election. Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi, the council's spokesman, submitted a petition to the British High Commission on Friday in Abuja and subsequently held a press conference outlining electoral safeguard demands ahead of the August 15 voting date.
Olajengbesi expressed serious concerns regarding alleged compromises affecting how the Nigeria Police Force operates within Osun State, warning that the force may lack the impartiality essential for conducting a credible electoral process. To the Inspector-General of Police, the campaign council delivered another petition documenting security-related anxieties connected to the election.
Framing the Osun election as holding significance beyond state boundaries, Olajengbesi asserted that how this poll is conducted and its credibility will function as a measurement for international assessment of Nigeria's democratic standing as the nation moves toward 2027 general elections. He called upon the Federal Government and international partners to guarantee that electoral results genuinely mirror voter preference rather than succumbing to external pressure.
The campaign council stressed that the electorate demands an interference-free political environment where public choice determines electoral results. The campaign group's public remarks have not specified particular instances of police impropriety in Osun State.
This request for intervention represents an early signal from Adeleke's political organization regarding transparency worries leading up to the August 15 voting date.
