Adeleke's Wife Leads Women's Protest for Peaceful Election

On Monday, Titilola Adeleke, the First Lady of Osun State, spearheaded a protest involving women from various groups against what they termed “indiscriminate arrest and violence” in the lead-up to the governorship election scheduled for Saturday. The march began on Osogbo-Ilobu Road and concluded at the Osun State Police Command along the West Bypass.

Notable attendees included Ayobola Awolowo, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, and Eniola Omotosho, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Market Affairs. Protesters carried placards with messages advocating for a peaceful election and urging the police to refrain from violence.

Adeleke called for the questioning of prominent members of the All Progressives Congress regarding the rising violence. She expressed concerns over the recent arrest of the Commissioner for Environment, who was reportedly stripped naked.

The police commissioner, Samuel Etaifo, assured the protesters that their concerns would be addressed and emphasized the need for peace to ensure a secure electoral environment.
