Osun First Lady Leads Protest Against Voter Intimidation

On Monday, Mrs. Titilola Adeleke, the First Lady of Osun State, led a protest of women to the state police command headquarters in Osogbo, advocating against alleged voter intimidation and calling for a credible governorship election scheduled for August 15. She was joined by Mrs. Ayobola Awolowo, the Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, and Mrs. Eniola Omotoso, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Market Affairs.

The protesters marched from Lameco to the police headquarters, where they submitted a letter to CP Samuel Etaifo, who oversees election duties. Adeleke accused opposition elements of targeting leaders of the Accord Party for arrest, referencing the recent arrest of the Commissioner for Environment, who she claimed was subjected to degrading treatment.

In response, CP Etaifo assured the protesters of a peaceful election atmosphere and emphasized his mandate from the Inspector-General of Police to stabilize the state and ensure a conducive environment for all political actors.
