Advocacy Group Urges APC, INEC to Uphold Primaries

An advocacy group has formally appealed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to uphold the principles of due process and the rule of law regarding the Ondo State National Assembly primaries. The group, represented by its coordinator Samuel Ajayi, expressed concern over reports of an alleged letter signed by APC National Chairman Nentaw Goshw Yilwatda, which directed the substitution of candidates emerging from the primaries.

The group warned that any attempt to substitute candidates without strictly adhering to the provisions of the Electoral Act and the APC's internal guidelines would raise fundamental questions about due process and compliance with internal party democracy. They emphasized that the APC constitution does not exempt the requirement for fair hearing in resolving disputes arising from party primaries.

The group urged the APC leadership to ensure that no candidate emerges from the primaries without due process and fair hearing, warning that actions taken in violation of electoral provisions could undermine internal party democracy.
