Governor Eno Honored at Security Watch Conference

At the Security Watch Conference held at the Sir Dawda Jawara International Conference Centre, Governor Eno of Akwa Ibom State was awarded the African Leader in People-Centric Governance Award. President Barrow of The Gambia was also recognized alongside other distinguished African leaders.

Eno, represented by Deputy Governor Senator Akon Eyakenyi, praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for enhancing Nigeria’s security architecture through collaboration with security agencies. He called for stronger regional cooperation to tackle emerging security threats and dedicated the award to the people of Akwa Ibom State, highlighting collective efforts in fostering peace.

Eno noted Nigeria's security challenges are not unique and can be addressed through intelligence sharing and partnerships. He outlined achievements under the ARISE Agenda, including over 1,346 kilometers of constructed roads, the establishment of the Ibom Model Farm, and the commissioning of the 350-bed Ibom International Hospital.

Eno also created the Ministry of Internal Security and Waterways and integrated local youth into the state's security framework. Patrick Agbambu, International Coordinator of Security Watch Africa, stated that Eno’s leadership was pivotal in the decision to honor him.
