Gunmen Kill 22-Year-Old Herder in Plateau Attack

On Sunday, a 22-year-old herder named Aliyu Abdulrazak was killed by gunmen in a Plateau community while grazing cattle. The attack occurred around 3 PM near Izovo Village, where the assailants opened fire, resulting in the death of Abdulrazak and the rustling of 15 cattle.

The incident was described as unprovoked, with local leaders, including Ya U Idri, the chairman of MACBAN in Bassa, condemning the violence. Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, the state chairman of MACBAN, characterized the killing as a senseless act that violated fundamental rights to life.

He called for urgent investigations by security agencies to apprehend and prosecute those responsible. Danjuma Dickson Auta, a former national secretary of the Irigw Association, confirmed the incident and expressed concern over the tarnishing of the community's image.

Captain Polycarp Oteh, a spokesperson for Enduring Peace, had not responded to inquiries regarding the incident at the time of the report.
