Airtel Africa Foundation Connects Over 1,000 Schools Online

Airtel Africa Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Airtel Africa Plc, has successfully connected 1,028 schools to the internet as part of its annual report for the 2025-2026 period. This initiative, in partnership with UNICEF, brings the total number of connected schools to 3,296 across 13 countries, impacting nearly 2 million learners and approximately 39,000 teachers.

The foundation has also launched 64 zero-rated digital platforms, enabling 11 million learners to access free educational content. Segun Ogunsanya, chair of Airtel Africa Foundation, stated that the foundation was established to dismantle barriers causing unequal access to educational opportunities.

The report underscores the foundation's commitment to investing in communities and aims to scale proven interventions in the coming years, including expanding its school adoption program to 80 schools, increasing scholarships for 600 youth, providing free internet connections to an additional 2,000 schools, and extending digital skills and financial inclusion initiatives to underserved communities.
