Aiyedatiwa Denies Sponsoring APC Defections Ahead of 2027

On Monday, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa addressed allegations that he was sponsoring members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to defect to opposition parties. He declared a zero-tolerance policy for anti-party activities ahead of the 2027 general elections during a stakeholders’ meeting with the APC’s 18 local government and 203 ward chairmen in Akure.

Aiyedatiwa insisted he has never directed any candidate to contest on another platform and described those accusing him of anti-party activities as “naysayers, blackmailers and slanderers.” He highlighted the importance of ward chairmen in the party's electoral success, stating that elections are won at polling units within the wards. Aiyedatiwa urged ward chairmen and secretaries to hold regular meetings to discuss party affairs and mobilization for the upcoming elections, stressing that such efforts must not involve anti-party activities.

He also reflected on his political history, emphasizing loyalty to party leadership and decisions.
