Yoruba and Igbo Leaders Call for Self-Determination

Prof. Banji Akintoye, the leader of the Yoruba Self-Determination Movement, emphasized the urgent need for the Yoruba and Igbo people to reclaim their future from Nigeria's failures during a virtual meeting held in Atlanta, USA. He described Nigeria as facing a humanitarian catastrophe and stated that the amalgamation of Nigeria in 1914 has led to a situation that has gone beyond genocide, resulting in a global humanitarian crisis.

Akintoye presented a resolution that includes a detailed roadmap for self-determination, which consists of a draft constitution for the Yoruba (Oduduwa) and Igbo (Biafra) nations to be submitted within 90 days. He urged global institutions to support a peaceful path to the de-amalgamation of Nigeria, advocating for justice and security for millions of indigenous people who have suffered from neglect and corruption.

The meeting also highlighted the plight of Yoruba activist Chief Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho, and the need for economic empowerment and safety for future generations.
