Akpabio Calls for Northern Youth Support for Tinubu

On Saturday, Senate President Godswill Akpabio met with leaders from the Northern Ethnic Groups Assembly to advocate for ongoing support for President Bola Tinubu's administration and its reform agenda, marking an early push for the 2027 re-election campaign. Akpabio defended the economic policies of the Tinubu government, including the removal of the fuel subsidy and efforts to stabilize the foreign exchange market.

He described the initial painful reforms as necessary to address Nigeria's structural problems and compared them to medical procedures needed for economic recovery. Akpabio noted early positive signs from these reforms, such as improved revenue collection and stronger investor confidence.

He cautioned against retracting the reform program prematurely, warning it could reverse progress. Alhaji Ibrahim Dan-Musa, the group's spokesperson, commended Akpabio for fostering political understanding between the North and South and outlined the coalition's focus on grassroots awareness campaigns and national unity ahead of the elections.
