Dr Lawan Ahmed Muhammad Sani Appointed New Emir of Gumel

Governor Malam Umar Namadi of Jigawa State appointed Dr Lawan Ahmed Muhammad Sani as the 17th Emir of Gumel Emirate three days following the death of his father, the late Emir. The announcement was made by Bala Ibrahim, the Secretary to the State Government, at the NUJ Jigawa State Secretariat in Dutse.

The appointment was made after consultations with the Gumel Emirate Council and kingmakers, in accordance with the Jigawa State Emirate Council Law. Ibrahim emphasized that the appointment was essential for maintaining leadership continuity and stability in the emirate.

Dr Lawan Ahmed Muhammad Sani previously served as the Ciroman Gumel during his father's reign, and his experience and understanding of local traditions were cited as qualifications for the role. The governor urged the people of Gumel Emirate to support the new Emir for peace and progress.

A formal ceremony to present the staff of office to Dr Lawan will be held in due course.
