Tinubu to Commission 39 Projects for Akwa Ibom's Anniversary

The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the commissioning of 39 projects to commemorate the 39th anniversary of the state's creation, scheduled between September 1 and 30, 2026. The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Information, Hon. Aniekan Umanah, during the Ministerial Press Briefing at the Government House Press Centre in Uyo.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to be the special guest of honour at the anniversary celebrations and will unveil some of the projects. Among the projects is the ARISE Palm Resort located on Brooks Street, Uyo, along with other strategic infrastructure initiatives executed by the Governor Umo Eno administration.

The anniversary will also include a state inter-denominational thanksgiving service on September 20 at the International Christian Worship Centre, followed by a State Banquet on September 23 at the ARISE Palm Resort, marking the creation of Akwa Ibom State from the former Cross River State on September 23, 1987.
