Al-Mustapha Denies Claims on Abacha's Death by Amachree

Maj Hamza Al-Mustapha (retd.), the Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State Gen Sani Abacha, has refuted claims made by former Department of State Services operative Dennis Amachree regarding the circumstances of Abacha's death. Amachree, in his memoir "DSS @40: My Journey Behind the Shield," stated that Abacha died from cardiac arrest during an intimate encounter at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on June 8, 1998.

Al-Mustapha labeled these claims as false and urged Nigerians to disregard them, asserting that they misrepresent the deceased. He claimed to possess evidence that contradicts Amachree's account but did not specify the nature of this evidence or whether he would make it public.

Al-Mustapha emphasized the inappropriateness of making allegations against someone who cannot defend themselves, reiterating that the narrative surrounding Abacha's death has been controversial and has led to various conflicting accounts over the years.
