Alcaraz and Djokovic Withdraw from Madrid Open 2023

Carlos Alcaraz, the world number two, has announced his withdrawal from the Madrid Open, which is set to begin on April 21. The 22-year-old Spaniard is struggling with a wrist problem that has made it difficult for him to prepare adequately for the tournament.

Alcaraz is focused on being ready for the French Open, where he aims to win for the third consecutive time, scheduled from May 18 to June 7. Novak Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam winner, is also pulling out of the Madrid Open.

The 38-year-old Serbian was last seen in action at the Indian Wells, where he was defeated by Jack Draper in the fourth round. Djokovic has been dealing with a shoulder injury and has not yet returned to competitive play since skipping the Miami and Monte Carlo Masters events.

Both players are racing against time to recover in order to compete at the French Open.
