Ozekhome and Useni Granted N10m Bail in Forgery Case

On Friday, Justice Chizoba Oji of the High Court in Maitama, Abuja, granted bail of N10 million each to senior advocate Mike Ozekhome and Ponfa Useni, who are facing trial for alleged forgery. The charges include the creation of false Nigerian international passports and fraudulent claims to property located at 79 Randall Avenue, London.

The defendants were arraigned on 12 counts of criminal charges, which were filed by the Federal Government, including allegations of conspiracy and cheating. Useni, also known as Tali Shani, pleaded not guilty, while Ozekhome is accused of aiding Useni in committing these offenses.

The court ordered that the defendants provide sureties with properties in the FCT and deposit their international passports with the court. If they fail to meet the bail conditions, they will be remanded in prison until their next court appearance on Monday.
