LAA to Host Nigerian Fundraising Golf Tournament in 2026

The League of African Ambassadors (LAA) is set to host its first Nigerian Fundraising Golf Tournament from August 29 to 30, 2026, at the Ibom Golf and Country Club in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. This tournament, limited to 150 golfers, aims to enhance diplomacy, networking, partnership-building, and resource mobilization for the LAA's continental programs.

The event is organized under the leadership of Ambassador Lt. Gen. T. Y.

Buratai (Rtd), a member of the LAA Board of Trustees for West Africa. LAA President, Ambassador Nwanne Ominyi, stated that the tournament will foster informal interactions among diplomats, government officials, and business leaders while supporting the League's broader agenda.

The initiative will also be replicated in 11 other African countries. Ambassador Ben Okoyen, Chairman of the Nigerian Fundraising Golf Committee, emphasized the diplomatic value of golf.

Prizes for winners include return flight tickets to London, Barbados, and Accra. Key dignitaries, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, are expected to participate in the event.
