Anambra Destroys N50 Million Worth of Illicit Drugs

On Saturday, Anambra State's anti-tout squad, SASA, conducted an operation that resulted in the destruction of illicit drugs worth N50 million in Awka. The operation was confirmed by SASA's Managing Director, Mondai Nwokoy, who stated that the crackdown is part of a renewed effort to combat drug trafficking and organized crime across the state.

The destroyed substances included cocaine, cannabis sativa, tramadol, and a synthetic drug known as Ghanaian loud. Nwokoy indicated that suspects were arrested in connection with the illegal drug trade, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) would further investigate for possible prosecution.

He emphasized SASA's commitment to maintaining its campaign against illicit drug trafficking and urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information about suspicious activities. This destruction of seized narcotics is part of Anambra State Government's broader strategy to tackle drug abuse and dismantle criminal networks to improve public safety.
