Anambra State to Digitize Governance and SMEs by 2030

The Anambra State government has announced plans to digitize governance and integrate small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) into the formal digital economy by 2030. This initiative is spearheaded by the Anambra State ICT Agency under its “2.0” phase, marking a transition from basic digital infrastructure to utilizing technology for public service delivery, business formalization, and economic development.

Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State ICT Agency, revealed these strategies during a virtual press conference. The agency aims to allow citizens to access government services through the OneGov platform, minimizing the need for physical visits to government offices.

A key aspect of this strategy involves transforming government websites into transactional platforms, enabling online initiation and completion of government processes. Agbata stated that the platform recorded approximately 14,000 visits from July 9 to July 29, averaging 700 visits daily, despite limited publicity.
