Anambra Partners with NCCSALW to Combat Illegal Firearms

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State announced a partnership with the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) to address the issue of illegal firearms in the state. This announcement was made during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the South-East Zonal Office of NCCSALW, led by Zonal Director Captain Chris Anushiem, at the Government House in Awka.

Represented by Deputy Governor Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Soludo emphasized that security is a key priority for his administration and reaffirmed the government's commitment to protecting lives and property through collaboration with security agencies. He pledged support to ensure that NCCSALW effectively fulfills its mandate in Anambra.

Captain Anushiem highlighted that the NCCSALW, established in July 2024, is tasked with the registration, regulation, and control of small arms and light weapons across Nigeria. He expressed confidence that the partnership would significantly reduce the circulation of illegal firearms and enhance public safety in Anambra.
