Anambra Deputy Governor Announces New Security Initiatives

On a recent occasion, Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim, the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, announced that the establishment of a Brigade Headquarters in Awka and a Battalion in Ihiala is underway.

This initiative is part of Governor Charles Soludo’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the security architecture of the state. Dr.

Ibezim made this announcement during a meeting with Prof. Emmanuel Iloh, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), who visited to discuss the Faculty’s upcoming 2026 International Conference scheduled for August 11, 2026.

The Deputy Governor emphasized the administration's commitment to protecting lives and property, stating that the government will not negotiate with criminal elements but will enhance security through strategic interventions and collaboration with security agencies. He acknowledged the contributions of former Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju in establishing the university and praised Governor Soludo for improving infrastructure and investing in education.
