Witness Testifies Against Militia Leader in Plateau Court

In the Plateau State High Court, a witness provided testimony about Adamu Alhassan Isa, also known as Shagari, who is on trial for his alleged role in leading militia attacks on Vom village in the Riyom Local Government Area. The attacks are connected to the Angwa Rukuba massacre that occurred on Palm Sunday, 2026, resulting in the deaths of 30 individuals.

Isa, along with four other suspects, was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) and charged with criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, illegal possession of firearms, and illegal dealing in arms and ammunition. During the hearing, the witness recounted Isa's history of involvement in banditry and terrorism in the state.

Isa reportedly admitted to leading 100 militiamen during the attack and had N4 million linked to terrorist financing discovered in his bank account. The trial, presided over by Justice Danladi Longden, was adjourned to July 3, 2026, to allow the prosecution to provide certified true copies of statements for the defense.
