Yobe APC Screening: Court Cases Impact Aspirants' Clearance

Usman Dachia, the chair of the Yobe APC screening committee, addressed journalists regarding the screening exercise held in Damaturu. He indicated that the nature of any court cases involving aspirants would determine their clearance for candidacy.

According to Dachia, aspirants must be Nigerian citizens, possess at least a school leaving certificate, not be ex-convicts, and must provide evidence of payment for their nomination forms. He noted that cases involving familial disputes would be treated differently from those related to economic or financial crimes, with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) being key factors in determining eligibility.

Dachia expressed confidence in the smooth and transparent nature of the screening process, which aims to provide equal opportunities for all aspirants. He mentioned that Ibrahim Abdullahi Gero is contesting for the fourth time in the Karasuwa local government area.
