APC Warns Tinubu's Appointees to Engage Politically

The All Progressives Congress (APC) issued a warning to political appointees serving under President Bola Tinubu, stating that those who identify as non-partisan "technocrats" must either actively mobilize for the party or resign. This statement was made by APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda during a courtesy visit in Abuja on Wednesday, where he addressed members of the Progressive Local Government Chairmen’s Forum, led by Dr.

Mustafa Jibrin, Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government in Niger State. Yilwatda stressed that the party relies on votes for power retention, particularly with the 2027 general elections approaching.

He criticized officials who claim to be non-political, asserting that accepting a political appointment inherently involves a political role. To ensure accountability, he tasked local government chairmen to report appointees who fail to engage politically in their constituencies, emphasizing that efficient administrative performance is insufficient if they do not deliver votes.
