Appeal Court Nullifies PDP Factional Caretaker Committee

The Appeal Court in Abuja has nullified the recognition of a factional caretaker committee of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), which was led by Abdurahman Moham and Samuel Anyanwu. The ruling, delivered by Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenam on Wednesday, stated that the Federal High Court in Ibadan, presided over by Justice Uch Agomoh, had exceeded its jurisdiction in recognizing the caretaker committee.

The court noted that the issue of the PDP leadership crisis was already settled by a Supreme Court judgment, which had declared the committee's formation invalid. The Appeal Court found that the lower court's decision went beyond the relief sought by the party and upheld the nullification of the caretaker committee, which was deemed to lack a legal foundation.

The judgment emphasized that the committee was extinguished by the Supreme Court's earlier ruling, which pronounced the convention that created it null and void. The decision was unanimous among the three-member panel.
