Court of Appeal Rejects PDP Caretaker Committee Recognition

The Court of Appeal, led by Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenam, delivered a judgment that faulted the recognition of the PDP caretaker committee loyal to Wike. The ruling stated that the Federal High Court in Ibadan, presided over by Justice Uch Ogomoh, exceeded its authority by recognizing the caretaker committee led by Abdurahman Moham and Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

The appellate court noted that the lower court's decision went beyond the relief sought by the parties involved. It emphasized that the caretaker committee's legitimacy was already nullified by a Supreme Court ruling, which declared the leadership structure created by a purported convention as lacking legal foundation.

The Court of Appeal ordered a retrial, asserting that the previous decision was excessive and nullified. The judgment warned against making consequential orders that would review the Supreme Court's decision, reiterating that the core issues had already been settled at the apex court level.
