APRA Re-elects Leadership at Annual General Meeting

The General Assembly of the African Public Relations Association (APRA) re-elected Mr. Arik Karani from Kenya as President, Professor Michele Mekeme from Cameroon as Vice President, and Dr.

Omoniyi Ibietan from Nigeria as Secretary General during the Association’s Annual General Meeting held in Swakopmund, Republic of Namibia. This re-election occurred alongside the Effective Communicators Conference, which was attended by notable figures including the Vice President of Namibia, Lucia Witbooi; the Vice President of Botswana, Ndaba Gaolathe; the Governor of the Erongo Region of Namibia, Hon.

Natalia Goagoses; and the Minister of Information and Communication Technology of Namibia, Hon. Emma Theofelus.

The General Assembly commended the Executive Council for their strong performance over the past two years, highlighting significant progress in strengthening national and regional public relations associations across Africa, fostering collaboration with ICT Ministers and stakeholders, and establishing governance frameworks to enhance the association's effectiveness and sustainability.
