APRA Re-elects Leadership at Annual Meeting in Namibia

The African Public Relations Association (APRA) re-elected Mr. Arik Karani from Kenya as President, Professor Michel Mekeme from Cameroon as Vice President, and Dr.

Omoniyi Ibietan from Nigeria as Secretary General during its annual general meeting held in Swakopmund, Namibia. The decisions were made during the conference, which attracted senior government officials, including Namibia's Vice President Lucia Witbooi and Botswana's Vice President Ndaba Gaolath.

The meeting also saw the governor of Namibia's Erongo region, Natalia Goagos, and the Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelu, in attendance. The delegates commended the executive council for its strong performance over the past two years, citing progress in strengthening public relations associations across Africa.

The assembly unanimously approved the return of the three elected officials, who will serve alongside immediate past president Chief Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, a non-elected member of the executive council. The new leadership will focus on implementing the next phase of APRA's strategic plan, which includes supporting the African Union's digital transformation strategy and promoting public awareness of digital initiatives.
