Army Rescues Polytechnic Rector Amid Kidnap Attempts

Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully foiled multiple kidnapping attempts and rescued Dr. Aminu Yusuf, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, along with several other victims during operations in Zamfara State.

The military reported that the first incident occurred on July 28, when troops responded to a distress call about terrorist activities in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area. The attackers had invaded Dr.

Yusuf's residence, killing his private security guard and injuring another resident before attempting to abduct him and his family. Troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to flee and rescuing Dr.

Yusuf unharmed. In a separate operation on the same day, troops responded to a distress call from Tungan Dorawa community, thwarting an abduction attempt of a businessman, Alhaji Azaria, and rescuing 21 other civilians.

A 45-year-old suspected terrorist informant, Falalu Yusuf, was arrested and handed over for further investigation. The military commended the troops for their professionalism and commitment to restoring peace in the region.
