Nigerian Army Investigates Assault on Uniosun Students

The Nigerian Army is conducting an investigation into personnel involved in the assault on students at Uniosun University, which occurred on a Sunday. Col.

Yahaya Ibrahim, the spokesperson for the Army depot in Osogbo, confirmed that those involved have been apprehended and are undergoing disciplinary procedures in line with military justice. He called for individuals, including victims and the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, to provide information and evidence to assist in the investigation.

Col. Ibrahim noted that personnel found culpable will face the full weight of military law, stressing that the actions of the accused do not reflect the training and values instilled at the depot.

He reaffirmed the Army's commitment to maintaining high standards of discipline and professionalism among its personnel, stating that any actions falling short of this mandate will not be tolerated. The incident has led to protests by students, prompting the Army to appeal for calm while announcing the ongoing investigation.
