Soldiers Allegedly Assault Students at UNIOSUN Hostels

On Monday night, soldiers from the Nigerian Army allegedly invaded student hostels at the University of Osun (UNIOSUN) in Osogbo, Osun State. During this incident, soldiers reportedly assaulted both male and female students, with allegations that female students were stripped and subjected to inappropriate touching.

A total of 20 students were directly affected, and two students sustained injuries that required hospital treatment, although they were discharged by Tuesday morning. The soldiers seized approximately 60 electronic devices, including mobile phones belonging to students.

Ademola Adesoji, a spokesperson for the university, expressed concern over the soldiers' actions, which he described as a criminal invasion. Major Yahaya Ibrahim from the Nigerian Army's public relations office stated that an investigation has been initiated to establish the facts surrounding the incident and ensure accountability for any personnel found culpable.

He emphasized that the actions of the soldiers do not reflect the values expected of trained professionals in the army.
