UNIOSUN Student Alleges Assault by Soldier in Hostel

Ademola, a student at UNIOSUN, recounted an alleged assault by a soldier that occurred on Monday evening while she was preparing a meal in her hostel room. She first noticed the soldier near the hostel premises, who initially appeared calm.

However, the situation escalated when the soldier began knocking on her door, demanding entry while shining a flashlight inside. When she refused to open the door, the soldier allegedly became aggressive, pinning her against the bathroom door and warning her not to scream.

After the soldier left, she locked the door and reported the incident to her hostel mates. This incident coincided with reports of soldiers allegedly assaulting students and stealing valuables during a military operation at the Nigerian Army depot in Osogbo.

The Nigerian Army announced an investigation following a petition from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to establish the facts surrounding the incident and ensure accountability for any personnel found culpable.
