Nigerian Army Investigates Assault on UNIOSUN Students

The Nigerian Army has initiated an investigation into the alleged assault of students from the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) by its personnel. This action follows a complaint from the National Association of Nigerian Students, which prompted the Army to establish the facts surrounding the incident.

Major Ibrahim, from the Nigerian Army Depot, emphasized the Army's commitment to protecting citizens and stated that any personnel found guilty of misconduct would face military law. The investigation aims to ensure that no student, as law-abiding citizens, feels unsafe or subjected to harassment.

The incident reportedly triggered protests by students, who blocked Obokun Road demanding justice, with Vice Chancellor Professor Clement Adebooy later joining the demonstration. The Army has called on Josiah Adeyemo Kayod, the Southwest Coordinator, to provide evidence and witness statements to facilitate a thorough investigation.
