Soldiers Assault Students at Osun State University Hostels

On Monday evening, soldiers allegedly invaded the hostels of Osun State University in Osogbo, assaulting students and seizing approximately 60 mobile phones and other electronic gadgets. Reports indicate that female students were stripped naked and forced to dance unclad, while male students were also assaulted.

The incident is linked to a military parade that occurred the previous Saturday. Although there are allegations of rape against female students, no victims have been identified at the time of the report.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Clement Adebooy visited the affected hostels on Tuesday to address the situation.

Ademola Adesoji, the university's public relations officer, stated that 20 students have already been identified as victims of the assault. The military authorities have yet to confirm the allegations of rape.

The incident has raised significant concerns regarding student safety and security on campus.
