Troops Repel Terrorist Attack in Zamfara, Rescue Nine

On Saturday at approximately 1:40 a.m., troops from the 8 Division Nigerian Army, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully repelled a terrorist attack on a military base in Zamfara. The terrorists attempted to infiltrate the base under the cover of darkness but were detected by vigilant troops who responded with overwhelming firepower, forcing the attackers to retreat with heavy casualties.

During their escape, the terrorists abducted an unspecified number of residents from nearby communities. Reinforcements were deployed, leading to the rescue of nine abducted individuals.

The military confirmed the deaths of one army officer and one police officer during the exchange of fire, while two soldiers sustained gunshot wounds and were airlifted to a medical facility, where they are reported to be in stable condition. The military dismissed social media claims of six security personnel fatalities, reiterating its commitment to offensive operations against terrorist groups in the North-West.
