Nigerian Army Denies Claims of Unpaid Soldiers

The Nigerian Army's Theatre Command, responsible for Operation Hadin Kai, has dismissed a viral video alleging non-payment of troops. Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba stated that the claims are false and misleading, designed to discredit the military.

He confirmed that all personnel are fully paid as of May 2026, with no outstanding arrears. The statement clarified that soldiers receive various allowances, including ration and cash allowances, disbursed through unit structures.

The controversy arose from additional incentives for deployed troops, with payments managed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and transferred to the Borno State government. Brigadier General Solomon Diwa assured that troop payments would proceed once funds are released.

The Army rejected claims of intimidation related to the video, asserting that no disciplinary actions were taken against soldiers involved. The Theatre Command urged the public and media to verify information before dissemination to avoid undermining troop morale and operational effectiveness in the northeast.
