Oyo State Reopens Schools After Security Enhancements

Oyo State will reopen schools in four local government areas, including Oriir, Oyo East, Suruler, and Olorunsogo, on Monday after a security review prompted by a recent attack at a school in the Ahoro Esinl community. The attack led to the death of a teacher and the kidnapping of several students.

Mr. Nureni Adeniran, the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, stated that the decision to reopen schools follows a comprehensive security review and collaboration with security agencies to enhance surveillance and safety measures in the affected areas.

Additional security personnel have been deployed to ensure the protection of pupils, teachers, and school staff. The state government is committed to monitoring the situation closely in partnership with local authorities and community stakeholders.

Adeniran urged parents and guardians to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information while assuring them of ongoing security presence in the communities.
