DSS Operation in Katsina Kills Kidnap Kingpin and Bandits

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), supported by community vigilantes and trained hunters, conducted a major intelligence-driven operation in Bakori Local Government Area, Katsina, neutralizing more than 60 suspected bandits, including the notorious kidnap kingpin Idi Abasu Aiki. Aiki, known for his fearsome reputation across Katsina and Zamfara, was killed during a confrontation that stemmed from a planned reprisal attack by over 200 armed bandits against local security volunteers.

The DSS had gathered actionable intelligence about the impending invasion and strategically positioned forces to intercept the attackers. The operation resulted in the elimination of Aiki and at least 14 of his senior commanders.

However, the clash also led to the deaths of four community vigilante members. Following the encounter, security personnel initiated a clearance operation to recover weapons and track fleeing bandits.

This operation is viewed as a significant setback for armed criminal gangs in the region.
