FG Deploys Troops to Kwara to Combat Banditry

The Federal Government has intensified security measures in Kwara State by deploying additional troops to Omu Aran as part of efforts to combat banditry, kidnapping, and other crimes. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq announced this deployment during a military parade held in his honor on Tuesday.

This action follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to enhance security in Kwara and safeguard residents from criminal activities. The deployment signifies a serious approach to improving security, with five new Army battalions approved for the state and an existing brigade set to relocate to Bode Saadu.

Preparations are also underway for another battalion in Patigi, following a military team's visit to identify a suitable location. The establishment of the Nigerian Army’s 9 Division in Kwara is also in progress, with the General Officer Commanding (GOC) indicating that arrangements for the new command are taking shape.

AbdulRazaq assured the troops of the state government's support and emphasized the importance of their role in protecting communities.
