Tinubu Approves New Army Battalion in Kwara State

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the formation of a new army battalion to be located in Omu Aran, the headquarters of Irepodun Local Government Area in Kwara State. This decision, disclosed by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq through his Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Mashood Agboola, is intended to bolster troop deployment and military operations in response to rising insecurity, particularly in areas plagued by kidnappings and bandit attacks.

Governor AbdulRazaq expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for this approval, emphasizing its significance in strengthening ongoing counterterrorism and anti-kidnapping efforts. He also acknowledged the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen.

Waidi Shaibu, for the prompt processing of the request and commended the Office of the National Security Adviser and other security agencies for their roles in combating violent crime. The establishment of the battalion comes amid heightened concerns over insecurity in Kwara, especially in the Babanla community of Ifelodun Local Government Area, where residents have reported frequent bandit attacks.
