Tinubu Approves New Army Battalion to Combat Insecurity

President Bola Tinubu has sanctioned the establishment of a new Army battalion in Kwara State, aimed at bolstering security and intensifying efforts against banditry, terrorism, and other violent crimes. The battalion will be situated in Omu Aran, the headquarters of Irepodun Local Government Area, and is expected to enhance troop deployment and military resources in areas plagued by kidnappings and bandit attacks.

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq announced this development in a statement on Tuesday, expressing appreciation to President Tinubu for fulfilling this commitment. He emphasized that the new battalion would significantly strengthen ongoing counterterrorism and anti-kidnapping operations.

The governor also acknowledged the swift response of Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu in processing the request for increased military presence. This initiative comes amid escalating security concerns in Kwara, particularly in Babanla community, where residents have reported ongoing bandit activities despite previous security operations.
