Bandits Kill Nine Farmers, Kidnap Many in Kaduna Attack

In Kaduna State, Nigeria, bandits killed at least nine farmers and kidnapped several others during an attack on Kakangi Village in the Birnin Gwari District. The incident occurred on a Saturday, with local sources reporting that the farmers were shot while working in their fields.

So far, nine bodies have been recovered, and six victims have been identified, according to Kabiru Ishaq, the community leader of Birnin Gwari. The attack is believed to be a retaliatory assault by bandits following a failed robbery attempt earlier.

This violence comes despite a peace agreement brokered by local authorities in November 2024, aimed at reducing such attacks. The region has been plagued by banditry, with previous reports indicating that at least six farmers were killed and 20 kidnapped in a separate attack in Danauta Village.

The ongoing violence highlights the challenges faced by farming communities in northern and central Nigeria.
