Bauchi Court Sentences Kidnappers to Death, Life Imprisonment

The Bauchi State High Court has convicted 64 individuals across 51 criminal cases, addressing offenses such as armed robbery, rape, kidnapping, conspiracy, culpable homicide, and fraud. The court, led by the Bauchi State Judiciary Service Commissioner Saleh Umar, delivered its judgment in the last quarter of 2025.

Among the convicted, Muhammad Maina and Yakubu Adamu were sentenced to death by hanging for armed robbery. Additionally, seven defendants, including Shehu Isa and Adamu Adamu, received life imprisonment sentences without the option of a fine for various offenses, including kidnapping and conspiracy.

The court also convicted 11 individuals for fraud-related offenses, sentencing them to three months in prison without the option of a fine. The sentences varied, with fines ranging from N10,000 to N500,000 depending on the severity of the offenses.

The court underscored the importance of strict penalties to deter criminal activities, particularly kidnapping, which poses a persistent security threat in Bauchi State.
