Bauchi Governor Launches N29.6bn Flood Control Project

On Wednesday, Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Mohammed conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for a N29.6 billion flood and erosion control project funded by the World Bank. This initiative aims to address the impact of flooding and erosion in the region, particularly affecting communities along the Jo Road in Gwallagan Mayaka, Bauchi LGA.

The project is designed to restore 9,842 hectares of degraded land and provide protection for approximately 213,000 residents. The governor emphasized the importance of the project, which is part of the Bauchi Urban Renewal Project, and highlighted that the contract has been awarded to Triacta Nig Ltd, which has received 40% of the contract sum.

Governor Mohammed urged the contractor to adhere to the project schedule and ensure timely completion. Dr.

Ibrahim Kabir, the state project coordinator, stressed the necessity of community involvement in the implementation and monitoring of the project.
