Bauchi Senator Shehu Buba Denies Banditry Allegations

Shehu Buba, the senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District and the 2027 governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, has publicly rejected allegations of his involvement with bandits. He made this declaration in Abuja on Monday, asserting that the claims are part of a politically motivated campaign against him.

Buba has faced accusations since 2024, including allegations that suspected bandit kingpins visited his residence, which were amplified by a content creator known as ‘D English Alhaji’ and a resident named Hassan. In response, Buba's Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Sabo Mohammed, stated that these allegations are aimed at undermining Buba's reputation ahead of the 2027 elections.

Buba, a former chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, emphasized the need for community involvement and lawful measures in addressing insecurity. He called for unity among Nigerians against terrorism and banditry, while choosing to address the allegations through institutional channels rather than engaging in media disputes.
