Bayelsa Deputy Governor Urges Women to Drive Change

On Wednesday, Bayelsa State Deputy Governor Peter Akpe called for increased participation of women in social change initiatives during a visit from the Diri/Akpe Women Support Group at Government House, Yenagoa. Akpe acknowledged the vital role women play in nation-building and stressed their involvement in behavioral change communication at various societal levels to combat insecurity and crime.

He advocated for value reorientation and adherence to standards in both private and public lives to foster sustainable progress. Akpe encouraged women to be agents of social engineering, focusing on contentment and high expectations.

He expressed gratitude for the group's formation, advising against placing political gains at the forefront of their objectives, and instead fostering effective relationships and capacity development. He cautioned against irrational political decisions and urged patience and loyalty among members to support their leaders.

Akpe emphasized that politics is just one aspect of life, and strong relationships can ease political decision-making.
