Bayelsa Meets World Bank Criteria for Water Supply Project

Bayelsa state has passed the World Bank's assessment for the provision of potable water in its capital, Yenagoa, as announced by Governor Douye Diri during the 196th State Executive Council meeting on Thursday at Government House, Yenagoa. Diri described this achievement as "good news" for Bayelsans, indicating that the World Bank will work with state government officials to conduct geo-mapping of Yenagoa and surrounding communities for water infrastructure deployment.

He emphasized that his administration is focused on providing essential services such as stable electricity and potable water, which are crucial for societal growth. Diri also mentioned that by improving water supply, electricity, road infrastructure, schools, and health facilities, his government aims to attract private sector investment to the state.

He advocated for public-private partnerships as a means to industrialize Bayelsa and encouraged residents to recognize the economic opportunities being created.
