Bauchi Police Arrest Hauwa’u Haruna for Co-Wife's Death

The Bauchi State Police Command arrested 33-year-old Hauwa’u Haruna for allegedly killing her co-wife, 43-year-old Jamila Adamu, during a domestic incident at the Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate in Bauchi on September 27, 2026, at approximately 4:05 PM. Police Public Relations Officer Nafiu Habib reported that preliminary investigations indicated that Hauwa’u, acting under hallucinations, struck Jamila on the forehead with a pestle, causing her to fall unconscious.

Following the incident, police detectives from the C-Division responded to the scene, documented it, and transported Jamila to the Specialist Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead by a medical doctor. Her body has been placed in the hospital mortuary for an autopsy.

The pestle allegedly used in the attack was recovered as evidence. Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu has ordered the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution, while also expressing condolences to the bereaved family and advising against domestic violence.
